COMPARISON GUIDE

A factual checklist for evaluating ItemData and Steamapis.

Provider features and prices can change. This page states only ItemData's current contract and gives you a repeatable way to verify both services.

ItemData behavior reviewed 3 August 2026

What ItemData currently provides

ItemData focuses on Steam inventory pages for CS2, Rust, Dota 2, TF2, and PUBG. It normalizes assets and descriptions, coordinates durable public snapshots, supports explicit fresh requests, and exposes cursor, cache, age, source, and credit information.

  • One normalized JSON response model across supported Steam economies.
  • Durable public page snapshots with observable HIT, MISS, STALE, and BYPASS behavior.
  • Cursor pagination that preserves Steam's real page boundaries.
  • Bearer API-key authentication, explicit timeouts, and stable error codes.
  • Optional authorized access for inventories that need a Steam session.

What to verify on both providers

Use the same representative Steam accounts and games when testing. Measure completeness, cursor behavior, private inventory handling, latency distribution, error consistency, rate limits, data retention, support response, and total cost for your actual request mix.

ItemData non-goals

ItemData does not provide market prices, float or paint data, automated trade execution, or payment processing. If those features are mandatory, include them explicitly in your evaluation rather than assuming inventory providers are interchangeable.
